MoLeNET DISSEMINATION CONFERENCE 2008
Mobile Learning in Practice
18th September 2008, London

What is MoLeNET?

A unique collaborative approach to the implementation of mobile learning via supported shared cost mobile learning projects within a wider community of practitioners and experts.

What is Mobile Learning?

Exploitation of ubiquitous handheld (or very portable) hardware, wireless networking and mobile telephony to facilitate, support, enhance and extend the reach of teaching and learning.

Who’s been Mobile Learning?

11,000+ learners, 1200+ teachers and hundreds of support staff in 89 English colleges and schools involved in 32 MoLeNET projects.

What have they done?

What technologies have they used?

What has been achieved?

What have they learned?

What does it mean for colleges, schools and other learning providers?

Come to the conference and find out!

The aims of the conference

• To disseminate nationally the good practice, lessons learned, research and evaluation findings, tips, tools and advice arising out of the MoLeNET programme in 2007/08
• To demonstrate technologies, systems, learning materials and techniques
• To provide a platform for practitioners to share and an opportunity for networking and building of future partnerships

Who is the conference for?

• College and school leaders, managers, teachers and support staff
• Education and training professionals
• Support bodies and agencies
• Funding council staff and policy makers
• Learning technologists and researchers

What are the benefits of attending?

• At this conference you will find out how teachers and learners have made mobile learning work for the benefit of their learners and their institutions.
• You will be able to receive practical advice and share knowledge with technical experts and college and school staff who have implemented mobile learning in a wide range of curriculum areas and learning contexts
• This is not future gazing or academic theorising – although you will hear about emerging technologies and the latest research findings
• Nor is it all about shiny new technology – although there will be demonstrations of interesting and exciting mobile technologies.

Conference format

The conference will include:
• A small number of introductory and keynote speeches
• Practical demonstrations
• Parallel workshop streams focussing on different curriculum areas, learning contexts and pedagogies
• Presentations and performances by teachers and learners
• An exhibition by suppliers of mobile technologies and services
