The MoLeNET definition of mobile learning is:

"The exploitation of ubiquitous handheld hardware, wireless networking and mobile telephony to facilitate, support enhance and extend the reach of teaching and learning."

Handheld hardware used in MoLeNET projects includes:

  • Mobile phones
  • PDAs
  • Smartphones and hybrid phone/PDA devices
  • Ultra mobile PCs  (UMPCs)
  • Handheld gaming devices (e.g. Sony PSP, Nintendo DS)
  • Handheld GPS devices
  • Handheld voting devices 
  • MP3/MP4 players (e.g. iPod)
  • Portable multimedia players
  • Mini notebooks - Asus EEE
